Purple's Platitudes

nothing but words …

There is a light

18 January 2012

There is a light

There is a light within my darkened heart,

a glowing ember, a faint tiny spark,

just warm enough to melt the icy shell

encasing a lonely, self-imposed Hell.

As wholeness begins, almost overnight

there is a light.

Burn passion back into a dying flame,

explore all, new territory to claim

as the past is consumed by what could be

a roaring fire, illuminating me

as slowly I emerge from my dark night,

there is a light.

    • Thank you Betty, I am glad you enjoyed reading this as much as I did writing it.
