Purple's Platitudes

nothing but words …

Only Sin

Only Sin

I watch, from the sidelines,

a patriotic lip-reader, restrained

by peripheral fear.

Matriarchal, level-headed

hypochondriacs seesaw in

blasé sportswear.

A willing correspondent, I

scribe structural truths,

for the intimacy of strangers.

I cannot speak of greasy allowances,

nor receivable symptoms — silence is

the only sin I am allowed.
