Purple's Platitudes

nothing but words …

Sonnet XXIX

Sonnet XXIX

Awakened by uncultured thunder, I

ridicule a dark pretender’s sunrise.

The three witnesses consult their playbook

but even they cannot prevent stray looks.

One asthmatic breath grants sulphuric truth,

I cannot squelch the knowing when there’s proof.

The land is toxic and always will be,

the transmission of Judgement’s penalty.

Less than five amid the uproar were saved,

only three to recall the glory days.

Secondhand trailer, a place not my own,

inadmissible fears cannot condone.

Life semiprecious, I’m a righteous man

that’s all I can ask you to understand.
