Purple's Platitudes

nothing but words …

your soul in every word

Your soul in every word

Your soul in every word you write,

I’m enriched, although I can’t pay,

such intimacy has its price.

I feel your heart in what you say,

Unaware, you have ensnared me,

your soul in every word you write

and I never want to be freed

from your depths, your beauty, your light.

Intimate strangers, strange delight,

never touched, and yet, deeply known,

your soul in every word you write

honesty no one ever owns.

A gift received, and given back,

enlightened, I offer my light,

in gratitude for all I lacked —

your soul in every word you write.
