Purple's Platitudes

nothing but words …

Thievery Inc.

21 February 2014

Some go all flashy stealing fire,

mementos of both gods and men.

I’m more subtle in my desires,

thieving, rather, what’s inside of them.

Feelings and thoughts, ideas too,

I’ll steal anything from you,

your essence, not the worthless bile

which so easily beguiles.

I’m proudly an idea thief,

I feel remorse, however brief,

but, profit from it nonetheless.

However, in my own defense,

there’s nothing original at all.

Everything’s just shadows on the wall,

a copy of a copy as they say,

we’re all thieves who steal in our own way.
