Purple's Platitudes

nothing but words …

scaredy cat

12 March 2014

she’s terrified

of the wind outside

as it whistles, howls, and moans

she runs and hides

and meows and cries

even though she’s not alone.

I think she knows

the blowing snow

from when she was a stray,

my scaredy cat,

now warm and fat,

remembers her former days.

wind, snow, and rain

she does disdain

and more than that, fears,

she’s enriched my life,

with her indoor lives,

since I rescued her from her fears.

I just let her hide

when her eyes grow wide

under the covers on the bed,

she’ll crawl out when

she’s ready, and then

she’ll purr and expect to be fed.
