Purple's Platitudes

nothing but words …

the other side of green

blustery, cloudless pastel blue,

sun-seared, shoulders, face,

and top of head,

time to dig my hat out of

winter storage.

Out for a walk, solving this and that,

simply, effortlessly,

just being outside.


I can feel the difference,

something in the air,

people stepping lighter,

talking faster, more excitedly,

probably even smiling more.


Everything seems brighter,

not sunnier, brighter.

Long-buried grass believes,

dreams, reaches for

the other side of green.

Like me.
