Purple's Platitudes

nothing but words …

alloy

27 May 2014

I’ve mined deep dark shafts

of my own delusions,

learned to project

masterful illusions

with sleight of

heart and hand.

But I’ve never found the mother lode,

diamonds or rubies,

or that pure vein of gold.

I’ve excavated tons

of rock and ore,

separating the dross

and the profane,

yet failing, like every other alchemist,

to produce anything more

than a smelted alloy

from the fires of

the most elemental parts of myself.
