stubbornness gets old
06 March 2014
they’re
claiming
life’s almost
foolproof, easy;
you just have to learn
to push the right buttons.
But, I’ve never been patient,
or particularly valiant
when it comes to embracing changes.
But, life’s too short to be afraid to try.
now I lay me down
24 February 2014
Bad
habit,
midnight snack,
nibbling on words
before I chase sleep.
It might give me weird dreams,
or worse, just make me fatter.
I know I should not do it, but
it’s harder than I thought to resist
the temptation when inspiration hits.
marginal
11 February 2014
These
red line
boundaries,
both left and right,
meant to organize,
to keep myself centered.
Do not read between the lines,
or color outside of the lines.
I have played it safe all of my life.
For once, I’d like to write in the margins!
those three little words
08 February 2014
“when I say, ‘I love you’ do you know what I mean?” (Phil Keaggy)
Think
about
it for a
minute or two,
when we say the words,
and when we hear them said,
What exactly do we mean?
Do we know what is being meant?
Is it too easy just to say it?
Do those three words mean anything at all?
geometric
26 January 2014
I
bisect
circles, squares,
but not straight lines.
With measured angles,
dissecting shape and form,
I seek to solve the unknown
variables and formulas.
But, proofs and logic cannot explain.
After all, life is not geometric.
again, already
31 July 2013
again, already?
It
seems like
was only
yesterday, when
I was complaining
about winter lasting
far too long. And now, autumn
begins to hint it’s not far off
and I wonder where the days have gone,
I wish sometimes that time would just slow down.
fire me up
22 July 2013
fire me up
The
challenge
is simple:
give me a word,
I’ll write a poem,
at least I’ll do my best.
Like sparks of inspiration,
ideas catch and quickly burn.
It may not be great literature,
sometimes a fire’s just meant to keep you warm.
teeter totter
21 July 2013
teeter totter
I
know, it’s
nothing new,
we all have them,
good days and bad days.
Today’s a little left
of center, and not quite right,
but I’ve had worse, I won’t complain.
these ups and downs should balance out, when
Life’s just an endless teeter totter game.
Etheree
14 July 2013
Etheree
I’m
wishing
it would rain,
a thunderstorm,
with lots of lightning,
and earth-shaking thunder,
a hard, torrential downpour,
that creates muddy new rivers
and puddles, deep enough to swim in.
Of course. air conditioning would work too.
