enemy mine
06 March 2014
I know each creak and squeak, each inch indoors.
I stumble and grumble declaring war
against the unseen, a frustrating foe.
How can I fight what refuses to show?
I growl and I howl, at phantoms who laugh.
I flare at the air, appearing quite daft.
I’ve been waving a white flag to and fro,
how can I fight what refuses to show?
In doom and gloom, most days I’m defeated,
mostly by thoughts I’ve often repeated.
It’s all in my head, these battles I know,
how can I fight what refuses to show?

moment
some people have this inner light
like fireflies on moonless nights
a light that shines for all to see
at our moment of greatest need.
some people seem to send out light
lighthouses on a foggy night
guiding us past rocks to safety
at our moment of greatest need
some people have this warmth and glow
a smile, a touch, as if they know
when we are wounded, when we bleed
at our moment of greatest need
we all could use a little love
when life gets hard, when times get tough
be glad they’re there at times, indeed
at our moment of greatest need.

Tempero
four a,m. I gave up on sleep,
I hate winter and summer’s heat.
Why can’t it stay just in between,
a better balance of extremes?
All or nothing’s just how I’ve been,
a see saw, on and off again,
no equilibrium it seems,
a better balance of extremes.
Moderation should be the key,
according to philosophy,
it’s not hard to see what I need,
a better balance of extremes.
To Do More
15 March 2013
To do more
What moves you to think, or to feel,
to speak out, or do something real,
to not just sit passively by,
to do more than simply ask Why?
What do you value or believe?
Everyone has their own pet peeves,
something that pushes you to try
to do more than simply ask Why?
What makes you cry, what angers you?
What make you speak up for the Truth?
For what would you live, for what die,
or do more than simply ask Why?

Kyrielle
My first impression is to see
how beautiful you seem to be.
Although that cannot be denied,
your beauty’s more than meets the eye.
Some only see you from afar,
like gazing at some distant star.
Maybe they’re just afraid to try,
your beauty’s more than meets the eye.
I look deeper than many do,
needing to know the real you,
attracted by what is inside,
your beauty’s more than meets the eye.
So reveal your heart and your soul,
the inner and the outer whole.
even if some things fade with time,
your beauty’s more than meets the eye.
I pray whoever wins your love,
will truly be deserving of
so much more than what is outside,
your beauty’s more than meets the eye.
Gaze
02 November 2011
Gaze
Her hair, her eyes, her lips, her smile,
Attraction without any guile,
In innocence she earns my praise,
But she’s unaware of my gaze.
I don’t pretend to understand
what draws a woman to a man,
I certainly enjoy the chase,
But she’s unaware of my gaze.
I know it’s just a fantasy,
To dream of possibilities,
Enchanted by her pretty face,
But she’s unaware of my gaze.
out of chaos

out of chaos
Trying to force words to appear,
condensation in a mirror,
I seek clarity of design –
out of chaos within my mind.
Too many currents, inner stream,
flowing freely to meet some need,
untangling what is intertwined –
out of chaos within my mind.
Sometimes I am carried along,
amazed, I sing an unknown song,
discover beauty undefined –
out of chaos within my mind.
